meme: reverse questions with a twist

I'm stuck at work and it's likely to be a very slow day, so let's have a meme we haven't done since April.

Pose a question (or as many as you'd like, and they don't all have to be in one comment, so you can come back later and add more if you want) to your fellow players about the game or their characters, and they will Wall-of-Text if they want to, look, I know how some of you are answer them. They can be personal or silly. You don't have to answer all of them! Nothing counts in game, of course and etc.

Questions might include "Which of your characters are you the most like?", "Which BDE was your favorite?", "What music do you RP to?", etc.

Are there any plots or upcoming canon things you've got coming up?

Who's your easiest character to play these days?

Seivarden. I don't find Breq hard to play, but Seivarden is definitely easier. It's easier to get her to interact with people, even id it is by upsetting or insulting them.

And who's your hardest character to play?

This girl. She's holding on through graduation, but she really doesn't have a whole lot to do anymore.

Are there any character things or canon bits you want to bring out more in game?

There are sides to Breq in canon that I find hard to bring out in Fandom, mainly her anger and grief, and on a slightly lighter side her habit of doing really stupid things to rescue people and getting injured. I just don't have the energy for longer plots right now.

Are there any characters you really want to app but haven't gotten to yet for some reason?

I have a bunch of random, mostly done apps. Mostly from random books, but some TV show folks, too. When I apped Regina, it was a toss up between her and Heather Davis from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. My next student could be a character from the Wayfarer series by Becky Chambers or possibly Daria Morgendorfer. Or Wendy Corduroy from Gravity Falls. . . .

Are there any characters you want your own to interact with more, or meet for the first time?

Seivarden and Duke need to get trashed together so bad (and if I ever get off my ass to actually set that up, they will!).

Mae needs to get over herself and get a close friend on the island. She's still holding people at arm's length, poor little bean.

Are there any characters from your canon you want in game?

Most any of the Haven folks would be awesome, but an Audrey or a Jennifer especially would be delightful. . . . Especially if you manage to figure out how to get Audrey's trouble immunity to function on Fandom weirdness.

What's your favorite BDE?

I love the big long-form ones (and if I ever get brave enough, might propose one to run myself). So the Nothing and the AU BDE are still the top of my list!

Which of your characters do you think has had the best story at FH?

. . . Oh damn. Um. Priestly, probably? Boy certainly stuck around longer than most, both as a student and a townie. Though Eliot had the whole grand romance angle.

I don't tend to play my characters with much of a story arc in mind, though, so it's hard to say.

Is there a certain character type you find hard to play?

Mean people. Every time I try they turn into puppies. And yet I keep trying. . . .

Are there any characters you've played that you wish you had another crack at?

I miss Pinkie sometimes. I don't have the energy to do her justice anymore, but DAMN she was fun.

Have your characters ended up with any weird quirks/likes/dislikes in Fandom that amuse you?

Lots of them for Seivarden! Disliking teabags, thinking swords are silly, being bossed around by a big fluffy cat, among other things.

Have you ever had a character stick around way longer than you ever intended? Or have them make a comeback when you were ready to drop them?

Eliot. I was this close to dropping him after the first, like, six months he was on the island. I couldn't get the rhythm of him right and he wasn't connecting with people.

And then I talked Chris into playing Parker and Sophie for PW and got her to app Parker as a teacher the next semester and Nu went "WELL IF WE'VE GOT AN ELIOT AND A PARKER THEN WE NEED A HARDISON" and now he's one of my most epic, long lasting characters.

It's amazing what a good RP partner can do!

Do you prefer open or closed canons?

. . . Yeah, way too many of these guys come from shows that have been over for, like, five or more years for me to say anything other than "closed".

And have you ever noped out on a canon while playing? How do you handle that IG?

I completely ignored everything that was released, stopped playing him, and then brought him back eight years later....

Are there any old things from FH history, or events or creatures, that you wish would make a comeback?

I miss detentions. Like . . . I totally get why they don't happen anymore. But I miss detentions.

What plot that you've run or been involved in are you most proud of?

I think Kathy's death/rescue/return. I had multiple characters heavily involved and it was traumatizing for EVERYONE. Soooo juicy.

How do you decide who to app? Are you looking for anything specific?

[betterthanaplan]

I read or watch or otherwise consume a thing and notice some character quirk that I think could be fun. I poke at an app. If I manage to do a complete app while still excited about the character -- and then don't get sidetracked or bored or beat to the punch by the time it's time to app them, I go for it!

This has resulted in no small number of short term characters, but hey, everyone's fun to play for at least a little while. . . .

Are there any things you handle differently than you used to? Plots or ships, etc?

Well, I don't play everything TOTALLY by the seat of my pants anymore. So that's new. . . .

Are there any relationships you've had IG that have surprised you?

A lot of them, both close friendships and romantic relationships. Seivarden and Amaya most recently. Seivarden and Rosa too. Leto and Sparkle was definitely a surprise.

Have you ever had a moment where you knew a character was really clicking with you?

I don't know if I can really pick out a single moment for this. It's more just . . . who do I reach for when I want to play somewhere.

There were definitely moments in Pinkie's heyday where I was just like "ah, yes, here's wheree she whips out a random balloon" and then wondered about my brain, though.

What's the weirdest email you've sent/question you've had to ask for RP purposes?

I once had to ask Tracy about John Crichton's teenage level of chest hair.

I once had to state in email that Kitty being reformed from nothing probably meant she had her virginity back.

I start off too many emails in general with "I swear I'm not stalking you" which is probably weird.

What is your favorite type of plot/thread to play with your characters?

I don't know that I have any sort of favorite, but between Rey and Sabine I'm really loving threads that actually get something new out of them. Rey gets so much out of different types of training that can be really interesting, but things like that Caritas thread was great because it got her out of her comfort zone so I could see what she does. And for Sabine she's so closed up that whenever someone gets her to admit anything about herself I want to throw a little parade.

Do you have a type? Has it changed at all since you started playing?

Badasses with anger issues and normal girls with bitchy sides? I don't think it's changed much, especially when I keep bringing characters back.

I had it pointed out to me that TROS means I have a very, very specific Star Wars type.

Do you have any theme songs for your characters/their relationships/the game in general?

I am so very terrible with songs and I can't get links at work, but. Thanks to Fry "Hiw Strong Do You Think I Am" by Alexz Johnson has always been my younger Jaina anthem, while Guster's "Lightning Rod" is her as an adult, and "After All" by Dar Williams is very much her post-LOFT song.

And "Empress" by Snow Patrol is the song that very much screams post-TLJ Rey to me.
