meme: reverse questions with a twist

I'm stuck at work and it's likely to be a very slow day, so let's have a meme we haven't done since April.

Pose a question (or as many as you'd like, and they don't all have to be in one comment, so you can come back later and add more if you want) to your fellow players about the game or their characters, and they will Wall-of-Text if they want to, look, I know how some of you are answer them. They can be personal or silly. You don't have to answer all of them! Nothing counts in game, of course and etc.

Questions might include "Which of your characters are you the most like?", "Which BDE was your favorite?", "What music do you RP to?", etc.

If you had to drop all your characters but one, who would you keep?

But right now I'd have to say Rey because there's so much for her to do. SO MUCH.

Sticking with the on-islanders: Mae is playing video games and asking whether things like sticking people's hands in warm water to make them pee really work. Tip is looking up the answers to Mae's questions on google. Duke is providing snacks and wondering how the hell he ended up getting roped into babysitting two highschoolers overnight.

Brooke threw it, Jaina's avoiding Brooke, Sia has opinions on what movies they're watching even if she pretends she doesn't, Sabine doesn't know why she's there but is going to do nail art and makeup on everyone, Kitty is absolutely in charge of the music bf that's why you're getting 80s pop today, Janet's actually there to have a good time and doesn't know why anyone else came if they're not, and Rey has not left the food table but is watching all of it.

Jaye did not show up.

Seivarden gets drunk while Leto amuses himself with trying to argue some philosophical point that she doesn't get. Breq tries to keep an eye on them while humming along to whatever Lucille is playing on the piano. Lucille is torn between pointing out that Breq is out of tune and just keep picturing Breq killing someone, because she looks like she could, and that's... attractive. If you're Lucille.

Is there anything in particular you look for in a ship, or are there trends or themes you keep hitting?

Very patient RP partners who don't mind that I don't RP sex.

. . . That's probably about it. I don't tend to aim for ships very much, just let them happen if/as they will, so.

I don't look for ships as I always expect rejection but my girls have always had some weird age differences (Jaye dated a townie as a student, Jaina and Eric failed the "half your age plus seven" test so super hard, etc), but I know a ship's worth it if their interactions seem to be making my character better somehow.

I think ships are complicated. I love when characters end up being drawn to each other, not necessarily romantically, but sometimes a stable defined relationship ends up being less interesting to play.

With students, do you tend to app then younger or older?

Depends on the student. My last two I brought in as Freshmen, but Tip's going to be the first one I think I've managed to play through from summer before freshman year through graduation. She's only 11 in her canon, though, so it made sense to bring her in really young. If I were to bring in, say, Daria or Wendy from Gravity Falls, they'd probably get apped as seniors, because they have, I don't know, an older energy, or something.

Oh yeah. I haven't in a little while, but that's mostly because life got busy. It's fun to go back to old threads!

Do you get bleed? How do you handle it?

I used to. All the time. For me I think it was more of a way to escape dealing with my own real life shit, so actually DOING THAT has helped a lot. Also, having someone to go flail at OOCly can be good. Get whatever bleeding over emotions out at someone who gets it, and then you can move on!

What's the most ridiculous thread you've played at FH? Is there anything you've done that still makes you laugh when you think about it?

FLORAL HEX.

For those who might not have been around, Angel tried to explain oral sex to John Crichton with a booklet that included dirty stick figures. TBQ actually made sahd booklet. It's incredible.

And we still quite the Christmas pageant at the holidays. "BEHOOOOOOOLD."

Everything surrounding Star by Star. Jaina came back from a teenage suicide mission with one brother dead and one captured, she'd turned and come back from the dark side and was dealing with it all in a way other people didn't understand, and it wasn't an easy fix, and it huuuurt.

Also from back in the day, Jaye and Alec's breakup, where it'd been OOCly decided that they were making things official and then other factors happened instead to derail that so it was actually really upsetting.

How do you handle your characters interacting with each other? Do you avoid it, or do you jump right in?

90% of the time they just avoid each other, if possible. Even if they're in the same post somewhere, they just don't talk. They're often like "oh, right, that person, I guess they exist."

Then every now and then I get ideas and do, like, a whole post in a BDE where every single one of my characters interact in the same thread. . . .

Do you still give characters birthdays? How do you decide on them?

Mostly no, unless they have a really close IG relationship that would warrant celebrating it (as with Eliot and Raven), or if there's canon for it (sooort of Duke? I know his astrological sign -- sun and rising! -- and birth year, so I've got it narrowed down to, like, end of May or beginning of June, and then threw out "June" in a thread, so I GUESS HIS BIRTHDAY'S IN JUNE). Otherwise, I usually hit a point where I got "huh, I guess Tip's probably like seventeen now instead of sixteen" and just roll with it.

If I'm just making up a day wholesale, I usually use an important birthday from Real Life. Priestly's birthday is my younger sister's (on whom some of his characterization that didn't come from canon is based). Eliot's is my older sister's (because he's clearly an Aries and so is she). Raven's was mine, but like, that was ICly made up wholesale too, so whatever.

I'm just gonna keep asking stuff. What canons have you gotten into because of this game?

Lucifer ended up on my list to binge in part because of Tumblr gifsets ("8008?" "It spells 'boob'.") but also largely because Luci on island was so entertaining. And the only reason I gave The 100 another shot is because of Octavia. And Rebels I watched entirely because of FH Kanan. . . .

I'm in between binges now, though, so WHO'S GOT A CANON ON NETFLIX OR HULU (or Disney+, since my cellphone carrier gave me a year of it freeeeee) I SHOULD MAINLINE?

Do you have a policy about pets for your characters?

. . . That they'll probably get one. I never really plan on it (I never really plan much of anything, tbh), but if my characters stick around long enough, they usually end up with a pet.

Or, you know, a mob of porgs living on their boat that will slowly acquire names and personalities. . . .
