Meme: Reverse Questions with a Twist

We're T-Minus 4 office days until I'm on vacation and my brain is already there so here's a meme. One we haven't done since January.

Pose a question (or as many as you'd like, and they don't all have to be in one comment, so you can come back later and add more if you want) to your fellow players about the game or their characters, and they will Wall-of-Text if they want to, look, I know how some of you are answer them. They can be personal or silly. You don't have to answer all of them! Nothing counts in game, of course and etc.


Questions might include "Which of your characters are you the most like?", "Which BDE was your favorite?", "What music do you RP to?", etc.

Eric and Lucifer always crack me the hell up. Actually, so do Atton and Anakin (though they are ultimately friendlier.)

One day I will remember to throw Margo at Wanda (and at Liliana). One day.

Also Atton really needs to talk to Ghani again sometime.

If you're throwing a post up because you're bored, which character are you most likely posting?

Probably Atton at the moment. I should do it more for Margo, but I've fallen into some momentum with him and it's just easy to keep it going.

I'm not surprised she's not here yet, but I also think that Sydney from The Bear is a real Fandom prize, if someone wanted to bring her in to work at one of the restaurants. (I would but I think there's a question coming up about self-imposed character limits, lol.)

Are there any characters/fandoms you're surprised we haven't seen in the game?

I'm expecting more fake pirates around between One Piece and OFMD. Playing a smelly pirate is fun, believe me, I know.

Are there any aspects of your characters (hobbies, dialogue, things they could teach) that you find difficult to play with?

I've kind of written out Atton's canonical sexism (which is a front and a technique he uses, not genuine sexism) under the heading of 'character development' because it's unfun to play and also it's something that makes sense for him to character develop out of.

Also the amount of pop culture references Margo *should* make but doesn't because I don't have the energy to research them is not zero.

I don't care what fanfic says, Eddie Munson should stay dead. We've got one season left to wrap this sucker up, we don't need more people in the show.

Is there anything in particular that you'd like to see more of in the game as a whole?

Literally any excuse for a party. Parties make it so easy to socialize people, omg.

Aside from my ships: Diego and Steve M., Annie and Wanda, Nell and Gladio, Irene and Octavia.

Do you like playing out conflict between characters?

I do! I don't like to be blindsided by it, but when I'm prepared I like to think I'm pretty good at it.

Who's your hardest to play these days?

Aloy. Again. Sigh.

It's the whole 'this character is an Island' of it all. She does not feel she needs other people and has no reason to need them at the moment.

Do you get bleed? How do you handle it?

I curl up into a little ball, put on appropriate music, and cry until such time as the bleed stops.

Tbh it's kind of satisfying.

After Sparkle left the game I knew I didn't want to drop Atton because his story was unfinished, but for a long while I didn't know where I wanted to take it. Now I do, and I've figured out how to make it happen with whatever amount of actual interaction he gets in-game.

Basically I know where his story is going now, how his character should develop, I'm proud of the development he has had even in the past few months, and at the same time how he remains open to taking some different paths if interaction with other characters changes the flow of how I want things to go. And so I might actually be able to get him somewhere where I can comfortably let go of him, at least for a while, which is not something I thought was ever going to happen.

What are your characters' faults? Actual faults, don't give me an answer you'd give at a job interview.

Lucifer: Trauma-induced self-centeredness it takes him effort to push past and that's easy for him to default to when stressed. And a temper.
Margo: Has almost zero filter and to quote the book, 'is just anger all the way down'.
Atton: Basically a creature of self-contradictory impulses (I want you to love me but I will also push you away if you try to love me too hard because I'm not worth it) and kneejerk defense mechanisms.
Jesse: Awkward, never Says The Thing if she can help it.
Aloy: Has immense trouble grasping what it means to be part of a community and ask for help.
Amicia: Violent temper. Is a teenager.

Gossip Girl was so much fun to mess about in because it's SO DUMB AND WEIRD. Always why I'm tempted to app from Riverdale.

True Blood, The Boys. I'm usually a canon pusher, not a canon taker.

What's the saddest thread you've ever played?

Most recently, the end of the MoM plot. I also like re-reading the first time Diego thought he was gonna die in the apocalypse.

Now he's kind of used to it.

Do you find yourself being more protective over some of your characters than others?

I am zero percent protective of the Muppet eagle. HE DESERVES NO PROTECTIONS HE IS ABSURD.

Do your characters interact, or do you like to have them avoid each other? How do you handle that?

100% avoid whenever possible. It's one thing to write my characters bouncing off of NPCs in prose form, trying to switch mental states from one ping to the next and back again is hell on my brain.

If I really can't get out of it, I stick to the minimum amount of pings required to get where I need to go and that's it.

Nell, though Charlie is a delight.

Who have been some of your favorite characters ever in the game, excluding your own?

Deadpool, Barbossa, the SPN folks, Derek Hale, Dale Cooper, Francine, Merlin, a billion other people.

What are things about your characters that you wish other people knew/understood?

(And no I totally didn't post a repeat question earlier, you saw nothing)

Lucifer: Is an idiot and has a hard time looking past himself, but he's not a narcissist. His self-centeredness is a consequence of his trauma and isolation, and he can move past it, it just takes some effort on his part.

Atton: I could write essays. But tl;dr: most of the character we meet in the game is an intentionally-crafted mechanism, not necessarily his actual personality. Except even he doesn't know which parts of it are crafted and which aren't. So assigning anything definite to him as a person is... tricky, and both canon and FH Atton have lied about lots of things without even being sure they're lying about it.
