Big Damn Post

Hello!

This post is a big OOC infodump post that's relevant to every player in the Fandom High game, so give it a read as soon you get the chance please.

Big Damn Plots
Not to be confused with Big Damn Events (because we do so love ripping off our Firefly terms), big damn plots are plots that encompass a whole lot of people. We're currently working on a couple of ways to help inexperienced players out with coordinating their own big plots. Stay tuned for more details in coming weeks.

The Handbook
The official Handbook (available at all times when the server is playing nice at http://www.fandomhigh.net) will be receiving an update shortly. Any changes, along with changes that occur from time to time, will go on a recent updates/patch notes page. We will notify everyone every time there is an update.

Conflicts
If Player A has a problem with Player B, Player A should contact Player B and talk it out like reasonable adults. Bullying, thuggery and mob tactics will not be taken very kindly and will get the offenders into a lot of trouble. Players are more than welcome to come to us with problems, but our first word of advice will be 'talk it out with the other person'. If that doesn't work, or that doesn't suit the situation, we will handle it, but only in those circumstances. Catchphrase: Communication is good. And speaking of communication...

Communication
The admins and mods will not contact players via instant messenger about adminly matters from now on unless the topic is urgent/time sensitive. By the same token, please do not contact any member of the admin or mod team on instant messenger or private email to ask about official business unless the matter is time sensitive or a small time clarification of rules. e.g. "Where should I post this?" or "Should I be doing this?" is fine. Official complaints, plot ideas and requests for information need to go through the official admin email address: administration@fandomhigh.net so that all admins receive the email. We're happy to talk to you, but if you want anything to be officially acknowledged (unless it's time sensitive), take it to email.

Sending Plots in for Approval
Still working on this. There is no simple solution, so we're working out the kinks and trying to make it as low maintenance as possible without screwing things up. There will be a post about it when we're done.

Townies on Campus
Townies are now allowed on campus to visit the first floor (lobby, rec room, stables, garage) while in the company of a student. They can visit the school library on their own in proper library posts. Library minions reserve the right to boot townies (as with anyone else) out if they're acting inappropriately. Non-students will be allowed to visit students' rooms if they submit the On-Campus Guest form in the fh_office comm. No common room access is permitted for non-students except in case of emergency.

Strengthening Our Support System
The teacher mentor program is one step towards offering players a chance to strengthen their support system within the game. We will be expanding the premise of the big sibling/little sibling program (and the buddy system we used for new teachers last time) so that every new player will have a few different people they can talk to ICly and OOCly if they ever need any help or advice. More on this closer to the beginning of next semester.

Plot Calendar
As requested, there is now a plot calendar available to the public. This will be linked to on the fandomhigh community user information page and at www.fhwiki.com. Please note (and this disclaimer will be on the pages linking to the calendar) that the calendar changes. A lot. We will do our best to keep it updated, but things change all the time and people submit things at the same time, so always come prepared with a back-up date. Please hold off on questions about this. There will be a full info post about it in the next couple of days. We're just giving you a heads up now.

Applications
We will be sticking to one round of applications for teachers and students per semester. Townies will remain open all the time. New players will be contacted and given advice and a chance to fix their application if there is a problem with it, since they are not as knowledgeable about what is expected from them as current players are. Current players will be contacted if there is a minor problem with their application that can be rectified. If the application is fundamentally unsuitable for what we're looking for, the application will be rejected as per normal standards. As always, players can come and talk their applications over with us and ask any questions prior to submitting.

Comm Jumping
This one's done better as bullet points because there's a few different bits and pieces involved:
* Townies can now apply to become teachers. Townies will be required to keep their town responsibilities in addition to their teaching responsibilities. This can only happen when teacher applications are open.
* Teachers can now apply to be townies, but not until they've completed the semester they signed up for. They won't be required to fill out the background and writing sample, but there will be other requirements in the transfer form.
* Alumni can now apply to be townies or teachers during the appropriate application periods.
* Townies cannot become students.

There are a few more information posts relating to specific subjects coming in the next week or so. Keep an eye out for them. They'll be on this community ([livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh_ooc). As always, feel free to contact us at administration@fandomhigh.net with any questions or comments.
