Howdy, people! We have a Homecoming update for you.

The Homecoming dance will take place on Friday, October 6, as previously stated. Alumni will be able to visit from that morning through the evening of Sunday, October 8. They won't be allowed to stay in the dorms, so please be sure to make arrangements somewhere in town.

The Student Council will be organizing the dance and there's been talk of a carnival as well, just like last year. ICly, they'll be able to come up with any theme they want and plan towards that. What they won't know ICly is that we have a bit of crack set up that will make the IC ideas moot.

Early in the morning on October 6, Fandom will be made to represent Pleasantville. Everything will turn black & white, all clothes will turn into 1950's era stuff, NPCs will be extra cheerful, the dance will suit the setting, and everyone will think this to be completely normal. All characters will still act, speak, and think as they normally would with the exception of thinking the environment and clothes are normal.

This is an island-wide event and will magically affect your character as soon as they cross the Causeway (although everything will look normal from the mainland). You're free to get as into it as you want, creating B&W icons, Photoshopping 50's garb onto your icons, etc, or ignore all of that and just go with your normal icons while remembering the status quo for the weekend.

Things will go back to normal early Sunday morning, so the alumni will have one relatively sane day on the island.

This is a fairly low-impact event, but one that should add a nice atmosphere to Homecoming weekend.

Thank you for your time, and here's looking towards a fun Homecoming.

I didn't want to clog up the Homecoming post with other stuff, but there are a couple things to note tonight.

First, fandomhigh.net was down again, meaning that any e-mails sent to the admin address on Sunday afternoon or evening may not have come through in a timely manner.

Second, FH.net - which is not affiliated with the Fandom High game in any way that I'm aware of - is the end of the internet. That makes me wonder if there's a secret affiliation that took place before I became admin. *looks around for conspiracy threads*

Third, some guy on [livejournal.com profile] lj_research did a study of social networks on LJ and noted that a very large percentage of the larger social communities (sociological term, not technical LJ term) on LJ are made up of RPGs. One of the two RPGs cited was Fandom High, and the left side of the graph (that I don't actually understand but it has our name on there with an arrow next to it so whatever) is represented by [livejournal.com profile] future_visions. It's pretty cool stuff, even if I don't follow exactly what it's talking about.
