Hey folks. There are some changes a-brewing here on the admin team, conveniently timed to coincide with the end of the summer semester, and the others were kind enough to let me step up and make an announcement first.

Effective this weekend, I'm stepping down from the admin team. I've been planning this for a few months now based primarily on a lack of time, but also because, really, how many assemblies can you organize before you just don't have any more assemblies in you? I'm not leaving the game, though. It'll take more than a lack of time to get me out of here completely. I put way too much into this place to leave anytime soon for any reason other than death, and even then I'm pretty sure you'd have to deal with ZombieNick apping Reg Shoe or something.

*quietly puts Reg Shoe from Discworld on list of characters to app*

Anyway, the main reason for this post - besides the useful announcement regarding a change in the admin team - is for me to say thanks. In the fifteen months I've been an admin (and the few months before that when I was but a lowly mod), I have done so many insane things in, for, and to the game that I have trouble believing that not only did I get away with it, but other people joined in my insanity each and every time. I mean, seriously, Flood Weekend. That was largely born out of illness and sleep deprivation on my part. I had a giant Krakel bar instead of a kraken! WTF WAS THAT? But people seemed to enjoy it. More recently, I ran a chocolate festival with dying chocolate bunnies. My fellow admins gave me permission to pull this stuff, but the rest of you gave me encouragement by playing along and not calling my local asylum. For that, I am forever in your debt. Especially since I can blame you guys for the insanity. "It's not my fault they liked the Krakel bar! The people clearly enjoy this stuff!"

This game has given me endless opportunities to get the weirder parts of my mind the creative exercise they so rudely demand and I truly appreciate that I was able to do that on such a large scale for over a year.

So, thanks to my now former colleagues who trusted me to do so many weird things (including writing the post where the school blows up! How's that for my RP resume?) and thank you to everyone else in the game who went along with those things. I won't forget them. Mainly because I'll be just over here, webbing things to other things and possibly putting them in Jello and you people won't let me forget them.

And thank you for letting me put up the longest resignation announcement ever, especially considering that I'm not leaving the game.

Well, not completely, but I wanted to get this up while I had some time. At the conclusion of this thread, Dolores Umbridge's reign of terror on the island will be over.

Yes, she is going to be locked in Special Collections. No, srsly, you can't go in and find her. She'll be in there, lost, locked up tight and without a wand. Just let her be...for now.

Anyway, I wanted to take a moment to thank some people who really made this whole plot awesome.

First of all, thank you to every single student, teacher, and adult who visited Umbridge in her office and who let me throw some of the meanest, nastiest threats, taunts, words and spells at them. I thank you for all for allowing me to do that and rolling with it so well.

Thank you to everyone who vandalized, terrorized, burglarized, attacked, assaulted, cooked, kissed, kicked, and punched Umbridge's office and Umbridge herself.

A very special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mouthy_merc, [livejournal.com profile] light_a_spark, [livejournal.com profile] sith_happened and [livejournal.com profile] kypriothschoice for letting me beat the hell out of your characters with encouragement and glee.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Umbridge finale, who gave of their day to this plot and did so with encouragement and glee.

Thank you to the other admins and mods for letting this plot happen, for letting me just wing it with the evil and encouraging me when I felt like my brain might dribble out of my ears.

And finally, thank you to [livejournal.com profile] bigdamndean for letting me take over the school. YOU CAN HAVE IT BACK, NOW. RLY.

Thanks guys, it was a blast!

Hey everyone,

As Nick mentioned in his announcement, there are some changes being made to the admin team now that the Summer semester is all but over. Some of the changes are internal and we've taken on two new moderators. We're hoping these changes will better suit the availability and strengths of each admin and mod so we can do our best for the game and all of you. You can see the current roster of admins and mods below.

SCHOOL ADMINS
[livejournal.com profile] ismyhairout
[livejournal.com profile] bigdamndean
[livejournal.com profile] themountieman
[livejournal.com profile] notqueenyet

SCHOOL MODS
[livejournal.com profile] x5_alec
[livejournal.com profile] bruiser_in_pink
[livejournal.com profile] vkandis_son
[livejournal.com profile] kypriothschoice

TOWNIES
[livejournal.com profile] trickster_twin (admin)
[livejournal.com profile] spacepiratevala (mod)

So, yes. As you can see, I'm going back to being a mod. I could not bear to admin without Nick. Giving up my admin responsibilities and going back to being a mod works best for stuff that is going on in RL for me.

The main IC change is that of our new Dean of Students. Harriet Jones will be taking over the role from Drax.

Welcome to our new mods, congrats to the mods that have been promoted to admin and thanks to all of you in advance for being patient with us as everyone transitions into their new roles.

Hey teachers (current and new),

During the regular school year, we have a program in place that allows teachers to be mentors for a certain number of students. The teacher is then responsible for helping the student out when needed, answering any questions for them and providing them with guidance. The level of interactivity is completely up to the student and teacher (ie: you arrange your level of activity yourselves). Basically, the program provides an opportunity for students to have someone on staff who they can go to in times of need or torment on a regular basis, and provides teachers with an in to develop close bonds with several students without it being creepifying.

What's going to happen now is we're going to ask for teachers who want to volunteer for this program to sign up here. All we need is an indication that you're willing to be part of the program and how many students you're willing to mentor. Try not to make it a ridiculous number, but you should know your own limits better than we do so it's up to you within reason.

Once we have our volunteers and our new students, there will be another post set up for them to sign up with their Top 5 preferences and then we'll try to match people up the best we can. Teachers cannot request specific students though.

So teachers, if you're interested, sign up below. Just say you're interested and how many students you're willing to take on. Comments are screened.
