Hey everyone! It's almost time for Summer Session 2 and thus, cabins! (Move-in: Sunday, July 5, Move-out: Sunday, July 26) For those who are new, or need a refresher on how the cabins work, you can read up on all the cabin info here.

Since we have new students and students who have left, we're going to be rearranging the cabins. As usual, you have the option of being randomly assigned to a cabin on your own, or you can sign up with a partner (someone you'd like to share a cabin with). Each cabin has 8 people in it, so once cabin sign-ups close, pairs will be allocated to a cabin and then anyone who's a single will be slotted in as well.

Using the OCD below, sign up in pairs with one person commenting to the main thread and the other person commenting collapsey-style beneath the first person to verify that they do want to be partnered up. For example, if Sam and Chuck want to live together for extra happy sexy time, Sam could comment first, and then Chuck would reply to Sam's comment saying that yes, they do want to live together.

Graduated seniors will have their own cabin again, so they need to pair up with other graduates. Other than that, you can partner up with whoever you want.

Cabin Sign-Up FAQ )

Please remember to let us know if your plans have changed and your character is going away for Session 2 so they will not be assigned to a cabin. Yes, there is special OCD for that.

Sign-ups will close midnight PST, Saturday June 27th (the midnight directly following 11:59pm Friday June 26th).

Big Sibling Program

New students need old volunteers to help them get settled in, right? Right. We need IC student volunteers to pair up with incoming students and help them adjust to Fandom's little quirks. (And by "little quirks" we clearly mean "giant and terrifying ideas like the island moving around all summer omg and so forth.") The idea behind this pairing is for the new student to have at least one person they can go to if they're not settling in too well and to ask questions. OOCly-speaking, the big sibling's player should be available to help out the little sibling's player. Sometimes minimal help is needed as the little sibling will be a current player (or someone who takes to the game like I do to a totes cute new internet phrase omg whatevs) but if the player is new, you will act as their liaison and mentor while they get settled into the game. You need to be available to answer their questions, guide them in the right direction while they get used to the game and hold their hand so they're not overwhelmed. Not literally. Unless you have really long arms.

If you think you're up to the job and you think your student character will be helpful to their student character, use the OCD threads below to sign up. If we have more volunteers than new people, we'll pick as many as we need out of the volunteers using our handy RNG.

Buddy System

Hush, we like the name. This is the teacher version of the big sibling program. The idea is that you currently play a teacher or administrator, and your character is willing to show a new teacher/faculty member the ropes of living and teaching in Fandom. ICly your character will be there to answer any questions and take the poor teacher drinking after their first week (knowing these classes, they'll probably need it just due to culture shock.) OOCly, if the player is new (or new to teaching) then you'll be on hand to answer any and all questions, help them out and guide them while they get used to the game.

What we need from you

Please volunteer if you fit the following:

- Your character won't be antagonistic about helping out someone (ICly, your character can be signed up against their will, or something, if you would really like to do this. But, please don't sign up if they're not going to be helpful to a new student or teacher.)

- You have the time to field questions from a newbie, and will be around consistently for the first few weeks of the summer semester. For the record, newbies arrive Friday, July 3rd.

- You're genuinely willing to help. This game is big. It can be intimidating at first. Having someone who's a friendly face in the crowd helps new players out a heck of a lot, but being assigned to someone who disappears or isn't willing to help takes a lot of the fun out of starting up.

If you have any questions, please contact the admins via administration@fandomhigh.net

Please sign up in the appropriate thread of this post by midnight PST Monday, June 21st if you're interested!

[Wait for the OCD or someone is gonna get Chuck'd on the roof OCD up! Looks like nobody is gonna get molested]
