Closing The Open Forum

The Open Forums - both of them - are now closed. Anonymous commenting will be turned off on the anonymous one, and we'll be friendslocking it. All of the players will be friended by that journal, though, so everyone will still have access to it. Almost everyone has been added, and the rest will be added tomorrow when the friending limit resets.

We will be taking all of the issues raised on board, and we hope that you'll be patient while we do so. Things can't change overnight, but they will change.

Tortuga Means Pirates!

*waves* Hi all.

The island moves to Tortuga tonight, and as we all know, Tortuga was totally about the pirates.

So, given Tortuga island's piratical history, and Fandom island's congenital weirdness -- would anyone like to suggest some piratical random events for the next fortnight?

(Also, I really like the word piratical.)

FH Offshoot Communities

There was a request in the Open Forum to start using the various offshoot communities again as they've fallen into disuse over time.

I thought I'd stick up a quick post to let everyone know what comms are and their general uses.

fandom_lounge is the equivalent of the Teacher's Lounge. All teachers can request access and make posts! Throw darts at Jamie Madrox's head, eat, talk smack, and relax. ETA: I've sent the few current faculty members that didn't have invites to this comm an invite. If I missed you, please let me know.

fandomassistant is for all TA's. It's sort of a pseudo teacher's lounge for those that don't get paid for the hard work they do. Again, all TA's, library aides and clinic aides are welcome to request membership. Only those with keys can make posts. The master list of those with keys is here.

fandom_quotes is for the best quotes the game brings you. Find something funny? Something sad? Something that makes you hurt? Post it to this comm and give it the attention it deserves. This comm is open to all current FH characters.

fandomhitunes is just what it sounds like. Got a playlist for your character? Want to post things like the OST to Snakes on a Plane? Have random songs that make you think of characters? Post them here. This one is open to all current FH characters.

fandomtherapy is the goof off community. It's where the muns can come out and lament what their character makes them do, it's where a character can write letters of outrage, it's where just about anything can happen. Again, open to all current FH characters. ETA: This comm's going on open membership for the next few days or so (there's some shifting going on right now so it might not be open at the current moment) so join away!

fh_fic is fic that's based on FH characters and/situations. They can be AU, crack, how a scene should have ended etc. Anything you'd like to write. This one is also open to current FH characters.

fh_freshmen, fh_sophomores, fh_juniors, and fh_seniors are the planning communities for the different classes. These can be used for class wide pranks, class wide trips, or anything else that you can think of that you'd like to make a class wide thing. Also open to current FH characters.

fh_icons (and thank you to fair_montague for pointing out that this one may be a sequel of sorts to fandomhighicons) is a place to post all the artwork you've made. It's for icons of FH characters, banners, graphics, etc. This one is also open to current FH characters ETA: This comm is also going to open membership for the next few days. Join away!

fandom_cookbook is for FOOD. Or, more specifically, recipes for good good food. I bet there's a pie recipe in there somewhere. Open to FH'ers!

fh_squee is similar to fandom_quotes save for the fact that it's about pimping/praising threads and/or posts and not just a quote. This can be funny, sad, painful, powerful, anything. If you think it deserves praise, please post about it. And open to current FH'ers here too. ETA: This has gone to open membership as well so join away!

Piratical Random Event!

Everywhere, X's! They've appeared randomly all over the island -- they might be on the ground, on your desk, on your shoe, in a tree.

But X's arent just X's, because X always marks the spot! Wherever there's an X, there must be treasure! In this case, wee pirate chests filled with chocolate gold coins will be somewhere nearby (under the ground, in a drawer, in your shoe, in a crook of the tree).

We'll get a schedule of random piratical events up as soon as we can.

Changes To Fandom Clinic

Hi all.

Starting today, there's going to be some changes to how the Clinic operates, just to make it a bit simpler and easier with the small roster. The Clinic will continue to have a day shift and an evening shift, but there will only be one post a day. OCD threads will cover the day and the evening shifts; one of those will be taken by the character posting, the other by the moddable NPC nurse.

As always, if you know you'll need the clinic for something big, please let us know in advance so we can coordinate. It's also not a bad idea to give whoever's day it is a heads up if you know you're going to need them.

The position of head of the clinic is still open, so if anyone is interested in apping a Townie to take it over, applications are always open. It's responsible for OOC organisation of the clinic and rosters, and making sure everything's covered off clinic-wise during big plots and BDEs.

Until then, please send any clinic questions or heads ups (that looks really wrong) to the administration (at) fandomhigh.net email address.

If you've questions, this would be a good place and a great time to ask 'em.
