With it being the end of a semester and with the fact that we haven't done this one since October, it's tiiiiime to do it again!

Five Things to Five People

Make a list of five things your character would like to say to five different people and don't include their names. The messages don't have to be secrets. Try to keep it to those on the island (or those off island like our esteemed alums and expatriates!), but if you need to pad your list, or it's really important, non-islanders (canonical characters that might not be IG) count too!

Example: Let's say I was logged in as Umbridge:

1. Your mask really turned me on.
2. I saw such potential in you, young man.
3. You were the only one I was truly fearful of overpowering me.
4. Professional shin kicking should be your career.
5. I still want to swat you like the pest you are.

And then people could log in and try to guess who Umbridge was talking about (and the answers: 1) Deadpool, 2) Andrew, 3) Anakin, 4) Turtle, 5) Aly). Feel free to branch discussions off each statement if you'd like. You don't have to answer in straight "#1 is me!" You can just respond to the statement as in Deadpool would respond to the first statement of Umbridge's with: "And that's just what you can see of me."

Remember to check back throughout the day for new people posting new five things! And, as always, please play nice.

Also, this icon is adorable.

ETA: Because someone asked, you can definitely do more than five things! Go for it!

Big Sibling Program

New students need old volunteers to help them get settled in, right? Right. We need IC student volunteers to pair up with incoming students and help them adjust to Fandom's little quirks. (And by "little quirks" we clearly mean "giant and terrifying ideas like the island moving around all summer omg and so forth.") The idea behind this pairing is for the new student to have at least one person they can go to if they're not settling in too well and to ask questions. OOCly-speaking, the big sibling's player should be available to help out the little sibling's player. Sometimes minimal help is needed as the little sibling will be a current player (or someone who takes to the game like I do to a totes cute new internet phrase omg whatevs) but if the player is new, you will act as their liaison and mentor while they get settled into the game. You need to be available to answer their questions, guide them in the right direction while they get used to the game and hold their hand so they're not overwhelmed. Not literally. Unless you have really long arms.

If you think you're up to the job and you think your student character will be helpful to their student character, use the OCD threads below to sign up. If we have more volunteers than new people, we'll pick as many as we need out of the volunteers using our handy RNG.

Buddy System

Hush, we like the name. This is the teacher version of the big sibling program. The idea is that you currently play a teacher or administrator, and your character is willing to show a new teacher/faculty member the ropes of living and teaching in Fandom. ICly your character will be there to answer any questions and take the poor teacher drinking after their first week (knowing these classes, they'll probably need it just due to culture shock.) OOCly, if the player is new (or new to teaching) then you'll be on hand to answer any and all questions, help them out and guide them while they get used to the game.

What we need from you

Please volunteer if you fit the following:

- Your character won't be antagonistic about helping out someone (ICly, your character can be signed up against their will, or something, if you would really like to do this. But, please don't sign up if they're not going to be helpful to a new student or teacher.)

- You have the time to field questions from a newbie, and will be around consistently for the first few weeks of the summer semester. For the record, newbies arrive Saturday, May 9th.

- You're genuinely willing to help. This game is big. It can be intimidating at first. Having someone who's a friendly face in the crowd helps new players out a heck of a lot, but being assigned to someone who disappears or isn't willing to help takes a lot of the fun out of starting up.

If you have any questions, please contact the admins via administration@fandomhigh.net

Please sign up in the appropriate thread of this post by midnight PST Friday, May 1st if you're interested!

[Wait for the OCD or, my god, someone is getting Chuck'd on a roof. I'll do it, don't think I won't OCD up!]
