*goes to a new account to reduce spamming*

First of all, big apologies for there not being a post like this last Sunday. I flew back on Saturday, and the majority of my Sunday was spent facedown in a pillow and trying to get back on Eastern Time. Which explains why this is going up early -- I'm going to be AFK for work allllll of tomorrow, and I'd rather get it up early than risk posting it late.

First off: If you're going "Spotlight on Fandoms? What's that?" and/or want to sign up, let me direct you over this-a-way.

Secondly: RNG says that next week, we shall have Pushing Daisies and New Amsterdam! [livejournal.com profile] death_and_pies and [livejournal.com profile] brandyforapples, are you guys good for it? Let me know!

And thirdly: The master list of fandoms to be chosen from and recaps already done are over here.

Finally, as a little favor to me and the general feel of OCD, please remember to tag spotlights with the "spotlight on fandoms" tag. I'm going to, at some point, go through and delete the other one, but it makes it easier for me to go through and edit the master list when I've got the tag to work off. Thank you much, and you can all go back to your regularly-scheduled squee.

I told you I'd be spamming (though this is the last time, mostly 'cause I have to crash, yo.) *switches accounts again anyway*

Big Sibling Program
New students need old volunteers to help them get settled in, right? Right. We need IC student volunteers to pair up with incoming students and help them adjust to Fandom's little quirks. (And by "little quirks" we clearly mean "giant and terrifying ideas like the island moving around all summer omg and so forth.") The idea behind this pairing is for the new student to have at least one person they can go to if they're not settling in too well and to ask questions. OOCly-speaking, the big sibling's player should be available to help out the little sibling's player. Sometimes minimal help is needed as the little sibling will be a current player (or someone who takes to the game like I do to a totes cute new internet phrase omg whatevs) but if the player is new, you will act as their liaison and mentor while they get settled into the game. You need to be available to answer their questions, guide them in the right direction while they get used to the game and hold their hand so they're not overwhelmed. Not literally. Unless you have really long arms.

If you think you're up to the job and you think your student character will be helpful to their student character, use the OCD threads below to sign up. If we have more volunteers than new people, we'll pick as many as we need out of the volunteers using our handy RNG.

Buddy System
Hush, we like the name. This is the teacher version of the big sibling program. The idea is that you currently play a teacher or administrator, and your character is willing to show a new teacher/faculty member the ropes of living and teaching in Fandom. ICly your character will be there to answer any questions and take the poor teacher drinking after their first week (knowing these classes, they'll probably need it just due to culture shock.) OOCly, if the player is new (or new to teaching) then you'll be on hand to answer any and all questions, help them out and guide them while they get used to the game.

What we need from you

Please volunteer if you fit the following:

- Your character won't be antagonistic about helping out someone (ICly, your character can be signed up against their will, or something, if you would really like to do this. But, please don't sign up if they're not going to be helpful to a new student or teacher.)

- You have the time to field questions from a newbie, and will be around consistently for the first few weeks of the fall semester.

- You're genuinely willing to help. This game is big. It can be intimidating at first. Having someone who's a friendly face in the crowd helps new players out a heck of a lot, but being assigned to someone who disappears or isn't willing to help takes a lot of the fun out of starting up.

If you have any questions, please contact the admins via administration@fandomhigh.net

I will also be taking donations in the forms of ponies, pie, and hilarious sparkly text.

Please sign up in the appropriate thread of this post by midnight PST August 27th (Wednesday) if you're interested!

Quick and dirty:

Anyone have/had/looking to get/wanting any pets? If so, let's hear about 'em!

The following class guidelines are intended to help classes be run in a fashion that is fun for both teacher and student, and also to ensure that classes don't take up all of a student's playing time.

As an out of character tool, classes are intended to keep track of a character's activity in the game, to avoid people holding onto characters that they don't play at all, and to provide a chance for a structured activity to encourage player interaction. As an in character tool, they are intended to keep the students entertained, the teachers employed and give everyone something to do other than tanning themselves on the beach.

WAIT! HOLD ON! YOU MUST WAIT FOR THE OCD TO BE FINISHED BEFORE YOU SIGN UP! GO FOR IT! While you're waiting, here's some things for you to read:

Teacher and student expectations...Which you may have just read, depending on whether you go to the bottom of your flist and work up, or start at the top and work down.

Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - first name then last name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

The boring but important stuff:

1) Students must sign up for at least 2 classes and may sign up for as many as 4. Additionally, no player may sign up for more than 8 classes in total (so if you have 4 students, they can have 2 classes each. 3 or 2 students, any combination of up to 8 overall, with no more than 4 per character).

2) For any classes that exceed their maximum numbers:
a. If you have two characters signed up for one class, one will be ousted (so make a note of which you'd prefer get in should this happen, if you have a preference).
b. Student characters played by the teacher of the class will also get ousted.
c. If the class still has too many, it will be RNG'd. If you get RNG'd out, I'll let you know ASAP on Thursday morning super early, and you'll need to pick a backup by Thursday night.

3) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class, and it will count towards your maximum of 4/minimum of 2, but the TA is not counted when determining if the class is full (full class = 20+TA). Also, your student character cannot be the TA for your teacher character. That's just silly.

4) If it's OOC for your character to take the workshop but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

5) If you sign up, you need to show up. Class attendance is how we keep track of your character's activity. If you repeatedly fail to at least sign in to classes, we'll have to contact you about it, and you could be asked to leave the game.

6) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion. Teacher's shape is subject to change according to Fandom weirdness.

WHEEEE, NOW TO THE FUN STUFF!

Ladies and gentlemen and unicorns and robots, pick your classes! Respond to the class' thread below with your character's name, using your character's journal. Lather, rinse, repeat. New characters, you sign up here, too!

This is your class schedule.

Class sign-ups close at midnight PST on Wednesday, August 27
. No late sign-ups are allowed without extenuating circumstances (so sign up early in case something comes up). If you don't sign up on time, you'll have to wait for the next Semester in JANUARY to play, and that's a long wait.

Questions or problems, email us - administration(@)fandomhigh.net - or drop a question in the Questions thread down below.

WAIT FOR OCD, WAIT FOR IT...We have OCD. I repeat, we have OCD.

ETA: More info on the sparkly, sparkly, sparkly Sex Ed class over here!

ETA2: *facepalm* And Jean-Paul's surname has an a in it. Beaubier, not Beubier. Many apologies.

ETA3: Aaaaand the dread myspeling vyrus haz indead struk hard in thez poste. Miss Bennet is spelled Miss Bennet, and not Miss Bennett. Mea culpa.
